We're really pleased to be kicking off 2023 with the launch of our fundraising challenge: Step Out in Solidarity. Show your solidarity with survivors and help support our vital work by 'stepping out' every day for 31 days.
The challenge
Starting on the 6th February 2023 (which is the start of Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week) and ending on the 8th March 2023 (International Women's Day), the Step Out in Solidarity challenge asks that you step out every day in a way that works for you. That could be committing to walk 1km every day, it could be choosing to run any distance daily, or it could be skateboarding up and down your garden! Choose your method of transport and set your own distance, all we ask is that you raise a minimum of £150. By fundraising for us, you're helping us to continue our work supporting victims and survivors and transforming attitudes to sexual violence and abuse.
Sign up as an individual or invite your friends, families, neighbours and work colleagues to join you and form a team!
Sara Kilner, Fundraising Lead for Rape Crisis England & Wales, says:
I'm thrilled to be bringing back Step Out in Solidarity for another year. Our inaugural challenge in 2022 was a huge success, and we surpassed our target of £7500 and raised over £13,000!
This year we've set a goal of £15,000, which will be a huge contribution to our work. But this campaign is not just about fundraising. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 20 women have been raped or sexually assaulted as an adult. By stepping out we are showing solidarity with the millions of survivors impacted by sexual violence and abuse.
