Types of sexual violence

'Sexual violence' is a term we use to describe any sexual activity that happened without consent. This includes rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse and sexual harassment (to name just a few).

A woman holds up a piece of paper that says 'no is no!' in front of her face.

This is not a complete list!

We are working all the time to bring you more information. So, just because something isn't mentioned on this page doesn't mean it's not sexual violence.

Other types of sexual violence include:

  • Sexual exploitation.
  • Trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
  • Stalking.
  • Voyeurism.

Feeling unsure?

Please remember: if there's no consent, it's always sexual violence.
