What exactly is payroll giving?
Payroll giving means giving us a regular donation that is taken out of your salary before it ever goes into your bank account on payday.
Donations are taken out every month – or however often you receive your salary – and are tax-free. This means that they're taken from your gross (pre-tax) salary, rather than your net (after tax) salary.
What are the benefits?
- It's easy! Once it's all set up, donations go out automatically.
- Because donations are tax-free, we end up with more money at no extra cost to you.
- We receive 100% of every payroll giving donation – so no losing out on commission or other fees.
How do tax-free donations work?
Because payroll giving donations are taken out of your pre-tax salary, a portion is made up of money that you otherwise would have paid in tax.
For example, if you are a 20% tax payer and set up a monthly payroll giving donation of £10 to Rape Crisis England & Wales, your take-home or net salary will only drop by £8.
