  • Role: Freelance Service Designer
  • Fee: £15,000
  • Duration: July 2026 - 31st March 2027
  • Closing date: 5pm on 29th June 2026.

Rape Crisis England & Wales (RCEW) is the national campaigns and membership body for a network of independent, community-based Rape Crisis Centres across England and Wales. Together, our member centres provide specialist support and advocacy for people affected by rape and sexual abuse.

Our shared vision is a world without sexual violence, where all women and girls can live safely, freely and with dignity. To help make that happen, we work to raise awareness of the nature, prevalence and impact of rape and all forms of sexual abuse, challenge the social and systemic conditions that enable it, and make sure every survivor can access specialist support and advocacy wherever they are, whenever it happened, and for as long as they need it.

We’ve received additional funding from the Home Office to develop peer support for adult survivors of Child Rape and Sexual Abuse (CRaSA), and we’re looking for a Freelance Service Designer to help shape this important work.

About the role

In this role, you’ll lead the development of a survivor-centred project to strengthen peer support for adult survivors of Child Rape and Sexual Abuse (CRaSA).

You’ll design a survivor-centred approach to peer support by speaking with key stakeholders, running focus groups with survivors and service providers, and turning what you learn into practical guidance for safe, inclusive groups.

You’ll also help us understand what’s working by developing practical and useful ways to evaluate the project. The aim is to reduce isolation for survivors, including those on waiting lists, and support Rape Crisis Centres to grow effective peer support.

We welcome applications from freelance contractors with the Right to Work in the UK, whether applying as an individual or jointly.

The successful candidate(s) will need to hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check.

This post is open to women only; this is a Genuine Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
