Rape Crisis official charity partner of #UKCharityWeek, 4th - 10th December
Today (4th December 2017), saw the launch of Charity Today's national campaign, #UKCharityWeek, which runs throughout the first full week in December each year, and Rape Crisis England & Wales (RCEW) is one of its official charity partners for the first time.
This is also Day 10 of the annual 16 Days of Action to End Violence Against Women & Girls, which started on 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and which RCEW and its member Rape Crisis Centres mark with activities and activism every year.
Both events will end on 10th December this year, which is World Human Rights Day.
There are approximately 5,000 victims and survivors currently on waiting lists for specialist Rape Crisis services across the country, and our member Rape Crisis Centres are experiencing unprecedented and ever-increasing levels of need and demand for their specialist, independent support services. Last year, our network answered over 202,000 helpline calls and provided ongoing, face-to-face services, like counselling and advocacy, to over 67,000 individuals.
The support and generosity of the general public has never been more vital or urgent for the survival and crucial development of our life-changing work.
