Rape Crisis and Women's Aid reach stretch target in CrowdJustice campaign to challenge two-child tax credit limit
On Friday 31st August 2018, Rape Crisis England & Wales and Women's Aid closed their joint crowdfunding campaign having raised £20,250 from 900 supporters.
The amount raised will support the two specialist violence against women and girls (VAWG) charities as they pursue a legal challenge against the cruel and discriminatory two-child tax credit limit.
A message from Rape Crisis and Women's Aid on the successful CrowdJustice campaign page read:
"Thank you for helping us to achieve our goal, and then some!
Your generosity means that Women’s Aid and Rape Crisis England & Wales can mount the legal challenge that will help overturn the inhumane two child tax credit limit policy. We now have the vital resource needed to fight against this policy which not only withholds financial support from vulnerable women and children, but also prevents survivors from leaving an abusive partner.
We are one step closer to getting this overturned and that is all down to you.
We can’t thank you enough for recognising the need for change and helping us protect women and children across the country. As our case progresses we’ll keep you updated, so you can see how your pledge has made a difference."
