Global Summit to End Sexual Violence
A small group of Congolese activists and rape crisis women from the Bradford Congo Campaign were shocked to be refused entry on the 11th June 2014 to the public fringe event of the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict.
An apology has been received from the security company concerned.
This event was public and the campaigners were unaware that there were restrictions regarding information materials that could be shared at the fringe event. Their main issue is the Foreign and Common Wealth Office organisation of the the public fringe event.
The Congolese and British campaigners were drawing attention to the ongoing war in DR Congo where there is mass rape. The campaigners are calling for specific action by William Hague to help bring an end to this conflict.
