RCEW at the 19th Belfast Film Festival
13 Apr 2019
On Friday 12th April 2019, Rape Crisis England & Wales (RCEW) joined sister organisation Rape Crisis Northern Ireland on a discussion panel at the 19th Belfast Film Festival, chaired by journalist and author Susan McKay.
The panel followed a screening of HBO's documentary film I Am Evidence about huge numbers of untested rape kits in the USA, and the implications of that situation for victims and survivors there.
RCEW Head of Operations Dr Quinn, who represented Rape Crisis England & Wales on the panel, said:
"This is a well-made and informative film that shines a light on a criminal justice system that seems at best apathetic towards sexual violence and abuse, and is far from fit for purpose.
But what makes it especially powerful is the testimonies of the four survivors who are featured. Despite the bleak situation this documentary exposes, those women's resilience and dignity shine through."
I Am Evidence will premiere on HBO on 16th April, with a UK date yet to be announced.
