Other information about live chat
Rape Crisis England & Wales (RCEW) were awarded funding from the Big Lottery Fund Women and Girls Initiative to develop our online services, thereby extending and improving specialist sexual violence support services to women and girls. We hope to enable more women and girls to get support when they need it.
As part of this work, we have introduced a live chat emotional support service for women and girls who have experienced sexual violence. At present, we are able to offer this service six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, for a few hours each day. In order to give everyone an opportunity to talk, we generally try to keep our chats to a maximum of 45 minutes.
If you are unable to get to chat to an operator, you can call the national Rape Crisis helpline on 0808 802 9999, between 12 noon - 2.30pm and 7 - 9.30pm every day of the year, for confidential support and/or information about your nearest services. Alternatively, you can contact your local rape crisis centre.
At the end of live chat emotional support sessions, users are asked to provide feedback on their experience, along with some basic demographic information. This information not only helps us to improve our live chat service, but also allows us to demonstrate a demand for the service, helping us to secure future funding.
If you are having technical problems with the live chat service, or have any other queries, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
