SERVICES

SARSVL covers the Leeds Metropolitan District area, including LS1 - LS29, WF3 and WF10 areas and provides confidential support to women and girls of any age who have been affected by rape and sexual violence at any time, whatever their experiences.

It is free to call SARSVL's telephone helpline from any number in the UK, including mobiles, and the number will never show on any phone bill. Messages sent to SARSVL's text message helpline will be charged at a woman or girl's standard network rate. The helpline is also available via e-mail.

SARSVL offers face-to-face emotional support by appointment during helpline opening hours on Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings and Sundays, in a women-only setting. Appointments should be made through the telephone helpline or e-mail helpline.

We provide a free-to-access, independent and confidential advocacy service for women who have been affected by rape and/or sexual violence at any time in their lives. The advocacy service offers advice from a certified Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) and provides emotional and practical support on a range of issues including physical and mental health, the criminal justice system and personal safety. We also support women to access financial welfare and housing services. Advocacy is not limited to these areas and we work with survivors to identify where and how advocacy could best support them.

The advocacy service is available for women aged 18 and over. Contact the advocacy service by calling 0113 200 2930 or emailing advocacy@sarsvl.org.uk. An interpreting service is available.

Our free-to-access, confidential counselling service provides women who have experienced rape and/or sexual violence with an opportunity to express their feelings to trained counsellors in safe and appropriate ways, and gives them a space to help them gain a clearer understanding of themselves, their experiences and their situation. Many people find that talking things over with a trained listener can offer a new perspective.

Our counsellors will not try to tell women what to do, but will help and support them to make their own choices and decide their own way forward.

The service is for women in Leeds aged 18 years and over and is available every day of the week.

Contact the counselling service by calling 0113 200 2936 or emailing counselling@sarsvl.org.uk.

We can also offer educational and awareness-raising talks and presentations to other agencies and a range of volunteering opportunities for women aged 18+, with full specialised training provided.

Visit www.supportafterrapeleeds.org.uk for more information on SARSVL's services.
